Professor O’Connell is the President of the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand (2023-2025). An academic Urologist based in Melbourne, she was Director of Surgery and Head of Urology at Western Health from 2016-21. She was Councillor for Royal Australasian College of Surgeons 2005 - 2014. She is a world renowned anatomy researcher. She is the Urology lead for the Australasian Pelvic Floor Procedure Registry (APFPR). She is an expert in local anaesthetic Botox injections and recognised authority in Female and Functional Urology.
